Road2BAS: the supervised path to becoming a BAS agent

Bookkeepers cannot register as BAS agents without supervised experience under a registered agent. Road2BAS, AccountsDynamic's program, supplies exactly that.

There is a gap in the Australian bookkeeping profession that nobody talks about enough. A bookkeeper with solid knowledge can do everything a BAS agent does, right up until it is time to lodge. To lodge on a client’s behalf, and charge for it, you need to be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board. To register, you need relevant experience under the supervision of a registered agent.

Most bookkeepers do not have a registered BAS agent to hand. So they stay stuck, referring the lodgement work out or working under an employer indefinitely.

What Road2BAS does

Road2BAS is a program we run inside AccountsDynamic. It gives bookkeepers the supervision the registration pathway requires, without needing to join a firm or wait for an opening.

In practice it looks like this:

  • A registered BAS agent supervises your work and signs off on it.
  • A tailored development plan sets out what you need to cover and when.
  • Supervision runs in person, by phone or by video, depending on where you are.
  • Every supervised hour is recorded transparently, so your evidence is ready when you apply.
  • Monthly training, a client portal and webinars sit alongside the supervision.

Three tiers, no surprises

The program runs on monthly tiers sized by how many clients you supervise under the program: Basic for up to five, Advanced for up to ten, and Premium for up to twenty. Current pricing is published on the AccountsDynamic site, and it stays published. We would rather a bookkeeper decide against us with the numbers in front of them than sign up without knowing what it costs.

Why we built it

AccountsDynamic exists to make small business finances less mysterious. It made no sense to leave the profession’s own entry path mysterious. Road2BAS turns a regulatory hurdle into a structured, mentored route to independent practice, which is exactly the kind of problem The Rodford Group likes to solve.
